I will be taking over responsibility for the meeting and I propose the following format: Step/Tradition

Each week in the month would be a Step or a Tradition in the following cadence (to match OOMG business meetings and CGAA General Service Conference meetings):

Week 1: Step
Week 2: Tradition (GSC meeting @ 4:00)
Week 3: Step
Week 4: Tradition (OOMG biz meeting @ 2:30)
Week 5: Concept(s)

Step meetings would be discussion per what we usually do in meetings, though I will likely try to invite folks to bring the lead for that day for diversity of experience and perspective.

Traditions meetings would be a mix of reading out of the 12 and 12, "Traditions Checklist" form AA: http://www.aa.org/assets/en_US/smf-131_en.pdf, or folks bringing a topic related to the tradition that day. Reading might mean a whole chapter or just a portion, depending on length and substance. Traditions will be discussed not just as they affect our participation in the fellowship, but also how they can be applied in our day-to-day lives outside of CGAA.

Addendum: Topic will default to beginner meeting material with an emphasis on Step One in the event of a new comer (someone within their first 6 meetings) popping into the meeting

Sounds good to me, I like to discuss and hear these topics, except in the case when a very new person shows up. A lot of brand new people are thinking, "I'll give this thing a shot, just go to one or two, maybe three, of these meetings. Most likely I'll soon find out why it's not for me, and be done with it."

I hope that if a new person is present at the start or shows up partway through, the normal topic is suspended for a step one "powerlessness and unmanageability" topic (or one of the other beginner topics.) Most new people that I see, I see once or twice before they're gone. My hope is that before they disappear they hear the kind of very honest sharing of powerlessness and unmanageability that will break through their denial and speak to them on a deep level and tell them that they are among kindred souls who understand them. My hope is that seeds are planted in a newcomer's first few meetings that will sprout in the future. That's seems likely to happen if the topic is step one but unlikely if it is any step beyond one or any tradition or concept.

I changed the schedule for Sat and Sun 1:30pm EST.

Thanks, Morgan, for putting this forward. Great idea, I think. :)

You have to go the way the way your blood beats:
If you don't live the only life you have,
You won't live some other life,
You just won't live any life at all.
